Kids Run to feature families fitness and fun
The Independent Health Foundation invites all Western New Yorkers to register for this year’s Kids Run, which will be held rain or shine at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 1, in Delaware Park, at the corner of Colvin Avenue and Amherst Street.
Buffalo, NY – The 31st annual free event will include a mini-dash for children ages 2 to 5 and a 1.8-mile family run/walk for all ages. In addition, a diaper derby will be held for all babies who crawl. Trophies will be awarded to the top three boys and girls in a variety of age categories, and each child who participates will receive a medal at the finish line (while supplies last).
Nickel City Reptiles and Exotics, Buffalo Soccer Club and several health and wellness vendors will be on hand to provide fun activities before the event. Immediately following the race, all participants will be able to enjoy the Buffalo Zoo at a discounted price of $5 per person (children ages 23 months and under are free). Limited, free parking will be available in the Zoo parking lot and surrounding streets.
“We expect thousands of Western New Yorkers to once again come to Delaware Park and enjoy a day of family fun and healthy activity at this year’s Kids Run,” said Carrie Meyer, executive director, Independent Health Foundation. “This popular event offers something for people of all ages and helps to promote the importance of having families exercise and stay active together. Even if you can’t participate, we encourage you to come out and cheer on your loved ones."
Registration is now open!
Registration for Kids Run is limited to the first 5,000 participants and is open through May 15 or until capacity is reached. All pre-registered participants will receive an official race bib (race packets will be mailed in advance). Competitive runners, ages 6 to 18, can also receive a timing chip to get their personal race results.
